UZBEK SILK HANDMADE EMBROIDERY SUZANI - FAIRY IRISES DESIGN in Samarkand embroideries by tradition are depicted big & equally located rosettes that are surrounded by heavy wreath of leaves. Within time they became thick & the color gamma reduced to two-three colors, but original wreath of leaves turned into spiral view circle of watermelons sprouts. At the turn of 19-20 centuries in Samarkand appeared quite new pattern design that consisted of rows of identical bushes of two alternating colors. The Samarkand Suzanis have usually narrow border. The main stitch is basma. This item is a fine Uzbek Silk handmade embroidery - Suzani from Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The foundation is a silk-cotton fabric adras. The Suzani has beautiful floral design made in beautiful colors predominantly of blue. The pattern of the embroidery is composed of subtle rosettes consisting of Iris blooming flowers, curved stems & very small serrated leaves. The wide border is filled with almost the same images as in the main field. Iris is a symbol of peace & serenity in Uzbek art. Iris' garland images were very popular in dress decorations of Eastern Kings Shokhs. Stitch: couching & chain.
