Description
This is a gorgeous fused glass bowl in bright green with whimsical accents in white, yellow & orange. Use it as a candy dish or fruit bowl, as a catch-all for your keys & wallet, or simply as a stunning accent piece in any room in your home. The bowl measures approximately 7 1/2 inches in diameter, & 1 1/2 inches tall. It is a thick piece weighing 1 pound 6 ounces. This piece makes a statement! Although I do sometimes put my fused glass pieces on the top rack of the dishwasher, hand washing is recommended. How it was made: Small pieces of bright green & clear art glass were arranged in a specially prepared stainless steel ring. It all went into the kiln to be fused together into a gorgeous disc of glass. The clear pieces melt into the green leaving lots of really cool depth to the piece. Next the embellishments were added & the piece went back into the kiln to melt the yellow, white & orange decorations into the green base. After that firing the edges were sanded by hand to smooth any rough spots, & then the disc went back into the kiln to be fire polished & smooth the edges. Finally the disc was fired a fourth time to slump it into the slightly organic bowl shape that you see. With all four firings the piece was carefully annealed to ensure the strength & integrity of the finished bowl. This piece spent a total of over 60 hours in the kiln. Thanks for stopping by!
