Description
This is a Fostoria Glass Designer Collection / Interpretations Group J off hand OOAK vase in Purple. The neodymium / alexandrite vase was created in 1977 & these are very hard to find. This example still retains the original labels & One of a Kind Collection card as shown above. James Carpenter was furloughed from Steuben for a year starting in 1977 to create, without the use of moulds, the 28 pieces in 4 groups that were shown in the collection. The line proved very expensive to create, & came with a price tag that was uncommonly high for Fostoria. As a consequence fewer than 1200 pieces were created in total before the line was cut from production in 1978. The vase stands 7-5/8 (19.4 cm) tall & measures 4 (1d.2 cm) in diameter at the mouth. The base is also 4 in diameter. The item is very substantial weighing just over 4-3/4 pounds (2.15 kg). The piece is in excellent condition without chips, flea bites, scratches, or staining. We will also include a reprint of an article from the Feb / March 1994 Glass Collectors Digest that is a good write up on this line of Fostoria glass. The first four photos are of the vase as it was rotated. This item will be double boxed for safer shipping & it will weigh over 7 pounds when packed. It is subject to dimensional shipping rates.
