Description
Jonathan Hayne of London, England made this antique 1823 sterling silver berry spoon. The bowl has a fruit repousse design & gold vermeil finish. The handle was ornately hand engraved with a flower & blank space left for a monogram. It could be personalized by an engraver if desired. The back of the handle is signed with script, JH which is attributed to Jonathan Hayne. Below that is the lion hallmark (English sterling silver), leopard (London), Date letter h for 1823 & King George IV (1822-1833) hallmark. The deep gold bowl has scalloped edges & measures approx. 3 inches x 1 7/8 inches. The full length is 9 inches. There is expected antique age wear to the spoon including, vintage patina, loss of gold washed finish, fine scratches, etc. Please see photos for condition. Overall, this piece is in very good antique condition.
