This handmade functional serving bowl in a rich red-purple glaze works beautifully for salad for 4, as well as a fruit bowl, or popcorn, or mashed potatoes, or ....you name it. It is approximately 5 inches high & 12 inches in diameter, with two decorative handles to add character & interest to this multipurpose bowl. The jewel-tone glazes are dishwasher & microwave safe & look stunning on your kitchen counter or dining table. The red/purple glaze adds a dramatic accent to any decor. I throw each bowl individually on a wheel, trim & add the handles the following day, & then let the bowl dry for a few days before putting it in my very large kiln (40 cubic feet of stacking space). The first firing reaches temperatures of 1800 degrees. Then the glazing begins. This bowl has the red-purple glaze as the base glaze, with a blue under about the top third of the bowl, which all but disappears but does add depth & variation to the base glaze. Finally, a third glaze goes just around the rim, & tends to run down the sides of the bowl, inside & out. It is the combination & interaction of these 3 glazes which give the bowl its richness & range of color. As this bowl is handmade, there will be small variations in size & shape as well as color, which give each piece its uniquenessno two are exactly the same. Purple-Red Serving/Salad Bowl
