Description
Here is a rare, gold scumbled finish Model 1227 Herbert Terry Anglepoise lamp. This was one of the first infinitely adjustable table lamps in Britain, with the design particularly good for concentrating a beam of light where required. The lamp was designed by G. Carwardine, & this model features the two step geometric Art Deco style base. This Model 1227 was made from 1938, the forks were mainly casted as a whole component with 'Made by 'Herbert Terry & Sons’ casted into the fork', The springs had metal caps added so that the spring length could be adjusted changing the spring tension. Slightly later models moved from steel linkage strips & spacers at the bottom to nylon ones. The shade became wider without any air vents on the side but larger ones on the top of the shade. This lamp has been fully rewired with a stylish black vintage style braided cable & Chrome bulb holder, has been PAT tested & is supplied with a low energy bulb. The original scumbled gold paint is in excellent condition with just the right amount of vintage patina. The lamp has light signs of age & wear as is to be expected with a piece of this age. Please use the zoom function to take a closer look & see all the photos. Dimensions: Base 6" x 6" (150mm x 150mm). Height full extended 35" (890mm). 1940S Model 1227 Herbert Terry Anglepoise Lamp Art Deco Scumble Paint
