This lovely 1920s Japanese export robe is made from a lightweight cotton & it has a beautiful stylised floral design in shades including orange, green & blue. The edges are bordered with pale orange banding which complements the colours in the floral design really well. There are no closures, it is meant to be worn open. This looks lovely worn as loungewear & also makes a wonderful lightweight jacket or coat. The colour combination on this robe is just gorgeous & it is so much of its time. This is a free size garment, when laid flat it measures 37.5 inches long & 27 inches across from underarm to underarm. It is in very good overall condition, on close inspection there is one feint tiny mark to the orange banding at the front of robe on one side towards the bottom & a mark at the end of one sleeve which measures 0.5 inch in size, you can see this in photo 9. There are some small marks to the banding at the back of the neck. These are old marks & did not come out when it was laundered prior to sale, but I do not think that they detract from the beauty of this robe.
