Description
Landscape. Paint on paper. Signed Chikuho & sealed. The wooden storage box has been dated as 1932. Mizuta Chikuho(1883-1958) was a Japanese artist active during Meiji & Showa period in Japan. He was a pupil of Japanese prominent artist, Himejima Chikugai(1840-1928). Since 1912 Chikuho consecutively won awards at Bunten Art exhibitions & also won special award at Bunten art exhibition in 1916. He established a Japan nanga shouthern Chinese school of painting called Japan Nanga art circle together with Kono Shuson(1890-1987). Some insignificant light marks is present on the painting, & some light crease & insignificant light insect damage is present on the mounting, otherwise the piece is in very good condition. It is accompanied by an original paulownia wood storage box with the artist's signature.
