These drawers were made by Thomas W. Mealing & Son, Furniture maker of High Wycombe. These were produced for (UKAEA) The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, a UK government research organisation responsible for the development of fusion energy. On its formation in 1954, the authority was responsible for the United Kingdom's entire nuclear programme, both civil & defence, as well as the policing of nuclear sites. The drawers are constructed of hardwood & were built to withstand heavy use. A great, mid century look & back-story. The cabinet consists of 10 drawers with each drawer having superb dove tail jointing & offering excellent storage, to each drawer front is the original pull handles. Condition report- in used condition various knocks & scrapes but all good & solid frames. Dimensions are approximately Length 61cm Width 48.5cm Height 72.5cm Please be aware that this item does show signs of use but that is to be expected considering its age & does add authenticity to the item.
