Antique court cupboard Made from oak. Beautiful 18th century, solid oak court cupboard. Upper section is made up of a large single cupboard with attractive, carved, cup & cover support pilasters, made from solid oak. The base has two silverware drawers sat over a further larger double, shelved cupboard. Perfect piece of furniture to grace any room. Antique Court Cupboards were first seen in the early 16th Century in Tudor homes & great halls. These early forms of antique furniture are usually built in solid English oak & have primitive construction like wooden pegs & old iron work straps along with clout nails. It is the earliest form of antique sideboard on record. It got its name due to the fact, they are quite short pieces of furniture & the word 'court' is the Norman word for short & it also being a cupboard. Condition report- in good, used condition. Showing previous signs of use. The odd scuff & scrape. One door has a little damage as shown, doesn't affect use & only seen when the door is open. Overall a good quality & attractive dresser with lots of rustic charm Dimensions are approx; Length 141.5cm Width 52.5cm Height 155cm Please be aware that this item does show signs of use but that is to be expected considering its age & does add authenticity to the item.
