APOLOGIES FOR ANY CONFUSION Antique Liberty Carved Arts & Crafts Ebonised Japanese Console Table. These tables were hand carved in Japan for Liberty & Co during the early 1900's, they were commissioned by Liberty as part of their more exotic range of antique furniture when there was fashion for everything Japanese. Please see Daryl Bennett's excellent book on Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915 Page 29 on the top right, photo of appropriate page included above They were hand carved by Japanese fishermen, made in numbered sections, for easy packing & transportation, & assembled at the Eastern Bazaar in their Regent Street headquarters in London.
