Slant Height is the distance from the top ring to the bottom ring measured in a straight line. Typically, your lamp's harp should be 0.5 to 1 shorter than the vertical height of the lampshade (measured from the top ring straight down), though this may vary depending on the design of the shade & the design of the lamp.
