Balinese Acacia wood Barong mask. Hand carved in Central Bali by my fair trade partner's f Nyoman this is a finely crafted piece. Taking over 2 weeks to hand carve, a vintage mask from the 1990s. despite its fearsome appearance this is considered to be a good addition to the home to ward off evil spirits. Used in the Balinese Calarorang dance this is a friendly creature rather like a faithful dog. This is not a commonplace sculpture & would be a fine addition to any home. Meant for the wall it is 23 cms long (9 inches) by 26 cms wide (11 inches). Solid construction the mask weighs almost 600 gms.
