These stunning cactus/sabra silk rugs are made from the Saharan agave cactus. Each one has been hand woven on traditional looms & hand dyed with eco friendly vegetable dyes. Berber symbols are then hand sewn on making each rug totally unique. We always choose rugs that have been nicely faded giving them that cool aged look. About sabra silk: Sabra silk is made from the fibre of the Saharan aloe vera, a member of the agave family. The spiky leaves are harvested, hammered & then soaked until the fibres separate. The fibres are then spun to produce the silk. The fibres in these rugs are mixed with camel wool to produce a soft but hard wearing fabric.
