If you want seriously COOL lighting, this is it! A rare, large, vintage & seriously AWESOME Sputnik ceiling chandelier, in very good condition. Ultra-stylish retro lighting to impress, admire & create a very sophisticated atmosphere with! It’s large but not annoyingly huge, & has 60 (WOW!) arms, 30 for bulbs & 30 with reflective orbs. MEASURING 74cm/29inch diameter, (without the bulbs in, with the electric cord running 50cm from the ceiling) this is a really ATTRACTIVE (and very reasonably priced) example of 'Sputnik' Space Age ceiling pendants, named after the Sputnik 1 Satellite that launched into orbit in 1957. in terms of age, it's hard to place precisely, as these have been made since the 1950s but the style, quality & craftsmanship suggest it was made in the 1970s. It has original brown/black Bakelite sockets inserts inside the chrome bulb fixtures, which suggests good age, but also more modern looking 40 Watt stickers on some of the bulb fixtures, although these could have been added by an electrician for health & safety reasons more recently as it was previously lighting a public venue. The CONDITION is used but very good, especially given its age. There are minor spots of wear to the chrome but which aren't overly noticeable - please see the photos. The chandelier was in good working order when it was taken down recently due to a venue refit. A professional electrician should fit, test & certify all lighting, especially something as big & with so many bulbs as this. This stunning chandelier comes without bulbs but we recommend trying out a mixture of mirrored, coloured & regular bulbs to create the ultimate trendy vibe!
