An official Eames EA217 chair by Vitra, this is an authentic piece of 20th Century design history in excellent condition. Designed by industry giants Charles & Ray Eames in 1969, this EA217 chair is part of the iconic Eames Soft Pad range made by Vitra, one of only two companies worldwide with the rights to make Eames chairs. It may well be the best office chair you'll ever sit on & it's rare to find an authentic one in such wonderful condition & for such a reasonable price – this super high-end chair isn't far off 'new' condition, & to buy new would set you back over £3,000. You'll find this chair in the top CEO offices & boardrooms in the world due to its timeless style, premium quality & wonderful comfort level. The EA217 is distinguishable by its chrome arms, 5-star wheel base & excellent raise/lower, swivel & tip-back actions, making it renowned as the perfect office chair. Featuring soft padding covered in beautiful plush black leather with the Eames label sewn into the back, this feels fantastic to sit on as well as look at. It has a lever to smoothly raise & lower the seat, the Vitra control knob to alter the tipping speed & a locking bar to allow/prevent the tipping action. With its beautiful lines, superb handlebar frame design & metal curves & ridges & the contrasting use of leather on chrome, this is a classic of Bauhaus design. This one was made by Vitra in 2003 & has the original metalwork stamps & Vitra stickers. This is our last remaining of these all-time icons of design history. CONDITION This chair is in excellent condition. Structurally sound & perfectly functioning, the quality is clear to feel as well as see in the not insignificant weight of this masterful chair. There are the slightest signs of wear as you'd expect from a chair of its age, very light wear to the chrome & slight imperfections to the leather, but overall this is in wonderful condition - please see the photos.
