The subject of the painting is the fallen Angel, banished from Heaven by God, before rising again Alexandre Cabanel (28 September 1823 - 23 January 1889) was a French painter. He painted historical, classical & religious subjects in the academic style. During the Renaissance period in Florence, Italy, it was common for artworks to be directly painted on to gilded wood - essentially a painting on wood - which was a core part of Catholic art. They might also be described as an antique painting, relic painting, gold leaf painting or rustic painting & were mainly religious artworks. Our pieces aim to recreate the look & feel of those religious antique relics using more modern techniques. Our wood art pieces are not gilded with real gold, instead we use imitation leaf to achieve an amazing finish at a very affordable price.
