Vintage 1950s Pablo Picasso Print, The Blue Basket. Copyright New York Graphic Society, Fine Art Publishers. Printed in Holland. This is a rare print that is no longer being reproduced. The original was painted in 1924. Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, & theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France. Regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co-founding the Cubist movement. Picasso's work is often categorized into periods. The most common periods in his work are the Blue Period (1901-1904), the Rose Period (1904-1906), the African, also referred to as the Crystal period. Much of Picasso's work of the late 1910s & early 1920s is in a neoclassical style, & his work in the mid-1920s often has characteristics of Surrealism. The poster is in very good condition consistent with age & very light wear. There are no significant tears, marks, creases, or folds to the paper, except some slight creasing on a couple corners as shown in the photos. The poster appears to never have been used or hung, since the corners have no pin holes from tacks or glue stains from tape. Some age related discoloration. The print has been stored rolled & will be shipped rolled. Size is approximately 27 inches wide x 21 inches high. Image area is 23 inches wide x 17 inches high.
