Lovely antique blue & white English ironstone plate or shallow dish in deep cobalt blue & white, oval in shape, impressed Ashworth mark to the underside, suitable for either decorative or practical use. Date c1875. This is known as India pattern but depicts a Chinese riverscape scene: it is not known whether this is the original factory name for the pattern or whether the name was given some time after manufacture. The plate measures approximately 1.15ins (2.85cm) tall at the edge of the rim & 10.25ins x 7.85ins (26cm x 20cm) & is in very good condition as shown, just an occasional tiny blemish to the glaze & some contact wear to the underside, all as expected in ironstone of this age. Carefully packed for shipping, using recycled materials whenever possible.
