In Japan these cups are called 'Yunomi' & are everyday drinking cups. Approximate measurements: Width at top 7.8cm Height 9.7cm Capacity: 340ml to the rim This handmade mug, beaker or 'yunomi' tea cup has been thrown on the potters wheel. Mishima flower imprints. It is made with a natural buff stoneware clay in shiney amber glaze Makers mark visible (see close up photo's). The decoration is created using the stamps shows, I make my own stamps using buttons & earings & a cork screw to hold them in place! The stamp is pressed into the clay, filled with slip (coloured watered down clay) to create the design & texture with which the glaze breaks over. Process Handmade pottery can seem expensive, the cost is due mostly to the time it creates to make one individual piece. Ceramic wares are thrown on the potters wheel, trimmed, left to dry then bisque fired, then glazed & glaze fired & finally bottoms are sanded! Ceramic Mug Or Tea Cup, Amber With Flower Imprints
