Description
Hand drawn batik cotton throw. (CLEARANCE SALE) Unlike many languages Hmong doesn't have a written form, thus textiles have become a form of visual expression. These drawings are a way of demonstrating aspects of their lives. Bees wax is melted & then drawn with Bamboo pens onto the hand woven cotton. The wax marks will resist when the cloth is dipped in the indigo dye which is obtained from a flower grown on the rice terraces. The cloth is then boiled to remove the wax & reveal the intricate design. The maker is Ba Sng, who along with her family work with us to produce batik items. She can be seen in the last image. Totally hand drawn, each piece is unique! Would make a beautiful throw, thin blanket, picnic blanket :) (5)Measurements: Dimensions - 133cm x 187cm ; 52 x 74 Weight - 400g Hill Tribe Batik Cotton Throw 54 X 74
