Large Exquisite Antique Solid Silver Fiddle Back Georgian Table / Serving Spoon From research I have done on this spoon I think that this elegant English Georgian sterling silver spoon was made in London in 1810. The spoon is quite long & has a large bowl. The piece has a fiddle back handle with the initials A & G engraved at the end. On the reverse of the handle there are old style struck / Hall marks including the lion & a crowned leopard's head indicating the London Assay Office, & date letter P in a shield shape signifying a production date of 1810. The piece also includes a mark from the silversmiths a 'PB' over a 'WB' which is a mark representing the well known & collected London Silversmiths Peter & William Bateman. The spoon measures approximately 21 cm in length, the bowl is 8 cm by 4.4 cm at its widest point. The spoon weighs 61 grams. The spoon is in good but used condition with some light scratching due to it being over 200 years old! This sterling silver spoon displays beautifully & would make a wonderful gift or addition to a collection of Georgian silver. A lovely & functional piece.
