Fine example of this decorative promotional map of Poland, published by the Atelier Mewa, one of the most influential poster publishers in Poland of the period. The map provides a lively caricature of Poland, showing indigenous costumes, culture, landmarks, topography, flora, fauna, agriculture, topography & other illustrations symbolic of the various regions in Poland. During the 1930s, the most important atelier was Mewa. Headed by Edward Manteuffel, Antoni Wajwdd & Jadwiga Hiadki, artists of the Mewa produced some of the most sophisticated posters of the decade. . . in their formative stage, they . . . showed signs of being influenced by the work of Gronowski & Bartlomiejczyk, but later they developed their own individual style.
