Lilac Burl Dry Vase (Lrg) - Barely There (de-Anza-Series) - 17 x 11 x 10 This piece is very unique. It is a very large & wonky lilac burl. It features a root that goes through the piece from one side to another. This root is wedged in a void with a small piece of scrap burl to keep it in place (you can see the small scrap wedge in one of the pictures). The root was kept to preserve as much of the original look as possible. It could be removed to open the void if desired. There are several other voids where light can be seen from one side to the other. in unique Barely There style, this is truly Barely There! It was turned to expose a perimeter form to give the illusion of a final shape; & thus exposing the inner beauty of the burl figure; but, also the piece preserves as much as possible the exterior beauty exhibited by the negative space. The challenge is to find some sticks, twigs, or seed pods to appropriately accentuate this magnificent sculptural piece of art. The inside is outside! Item: 9394 The Barely There forms are a new series created by Paul Russell Designs. The illusion of the vase is that it is barely there but has the form of a vase.
