Description
This is a lovely old cup & saucer set made in Japan. The porcelain is eggshell-like - translucent & somewhat brittle. The cup is hand decorated with Japanese elders or wise men & finished in green. There are a few tiny defects - a tiny edge chip to the saucer, wear to the man's face at the left on the saucer & a short tight hairline to the cup, all quite minor (see photos). Damage is to be expected on these cup sets due to the fragility of the porcelain. The saucer measures 4 3/4 in diameter & the cup has a height of 1 3/4 & a top diameter of 3 1/4.
