Vintage Buenilum hand wrought aluminum bowl with lid A bit of info....The Buenilum Aluminum Co. was founded as Buehner-Wanner by metalsmith & industrial designer Frederick Buehner & Franz Wanner in Norwalk, Connecticut in 1944. Buehner developed a unique formula for using hammered aluminum, which he trademarked in 1933 as Buenilum. The Buehner-Wanner company produced Buenilum pieces throughout the 1930s-1960s, making mid-century modern decorative, kitchenware & food service pieces including serving trays, relish dishes, bowls, pots & pans. The company was sold to the Pfaltzgraff company in 1969, which continued to make Buenilum items until the line was closed in 1979. This aluminum bowl features a beaded edge detail. A matching dome lid with large wood ball knob rests on top within the lip of the bowl. The bowl measures approximately 10 in diameter & is 2.75 without the lid (approximately 4.5 tall to the tip of the wood knob with lid in place). Very good vintage condition with expected scuffs, scratches & a few spots. One notable spot of discoloration on the underside of the lid. Lovely as is, but the dish could shine up nicely with a little TLC. This bowl would make a nice addition to any vintage aluminum collection.
