Overall Size:7H x 8W x 2D/Thick Wood: Pine Technique:Sliced, Scrolled & Pyrographed Finish:Clear Gloss Lacquer Item Number:1093 This wood three dimensional scrolled & pyrographed child & horse is technically called a diorama. in this horse shadow box a child is holding tight onto his first horse. The horse diorama was totally made by hand - no purchased pieces were put together to create. The horse wall art comes ready to hang with two hooks. A recycled pine tree branch was cut into four layers to create this wood shadow box. All steps were done using the skilled hands of the artist. Scroll work & pyrography (wood burning) were used to make each layer of this rustic shadow box. 1st layer: background which shows the natural coloration & grains of the wood 2nd layer: child's shining face is looking at her first horse as she holds onto the horse's reins 3rd layer: the horse is looking at the child with the same happiness 4th layer: frame surrounding picture Skillfully crafted details include the horse's mane, ears, facial features, reins, the child's hat, hair, facial features, neck, hand & fingers & clothing. The four layers are glued together to create the scene & diorama. The depth created by using four layers is outstanding. The bark of the pine tree was removed exposing light & dark wood. All wood work & art work has been handmade by Bruce in his home studio. Unless otherwise noted, the wood comes from sustainably sourced recycled trees milled by the artist. Out of the Woods USA does NOT work with outside manufacturers, employ anyone to design or produce, use automated machinery, computer assisted tools, lasers or kits to make any artwork. The bottom line is that the buyer is getting one-of-a-kind fine woodcrafts made by an American artist from start to finish in his one man shop. Handcrafted wood art may contain splits & holes & may look flawed; however, these variations occur naturally in nature & are part of the character of a handmade piece.
