A fantastic salvaged set full of nostalgia & charm, this vintage science laboratory desk & accompanying four bench stools carry the marks of their busy former life on pretty much every surface! Look carefully & you will find compass scratches, names, even Pac-Man etched into the wood. Although we’ve restored each item, we’ve taken great care not to remove too much of its history as this is, of course, a large part of its appeal. We absolutely love this set & its renovation has been done with thought & love. The table top is mahogany so a deeper, more forgiving. It’s hard, resilient qualities that made it perfect for school-use will serve well in the home too. This would make a excellent, quirky island & / or breakfast bar in the modern kitchen. It was originally made to be used a great deal & it will stand up to whatever family life has to throw at it! This is an original, salvaged set that is ‘sold as seen’. It comprises of five separate pieces – 4 x wooden stools & 1 x school science bench. It is in overall good condition. Each piece has been cleaned, lightly sanded & oiled, however, we have left many of the marks, drawings & scratches in place as we believe its part of its history & narrative. Each of the wooden stools is sturdy & solid. The table is also sturdy & stable. These were well-built, utilitarian constructions meant to take a lot of heavy wear & tear. There are no maker’s marks on any of the pieces but it dates back to the 1950’s & was probably in use through to the 1980’s.
