This is such a lovely piece, ticking all the Art Deco boxes with its clean, straight lines, subtle design details, superb construction & beautiful burr walnut wood which takes centre stage. This writing desk combines practicality with neat proportions. It's a compact piece, ideal for a bedroom, a quiet spot or a home where there isn't room for a bulky conventional desk. With book shelves below, & pigeon-hole storage at the top for hiding away work, it's functional when needed; but when the day is done, the desk door locks shut & it's a slimline, handsome item of antique furniture. This vintage piece is 'sold as seen'. It is in excellent, used condition. We have lightly cleaned the piece applying a natural beeswax polish but nothing further as it's in such immaculate order. The key is present & lock works with ease. The pull-down door reveals pigeon holes & the hinges here are solid & in good order. The interior wood is clean & tidy. Likewise, the lowers shelves are clean & tidy with no marks or scuffs to flag. The burr walnut veneer on the door is in excellent order with no chips or raised areas. The top & side are also in superb condition. Overall, this bureau writing desk is beautifully constructed with no repairs or wobbles. There is sadly no maker's mark but we believe it to be of British origin & made in the 1920s. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of the overall condition.
