Therefore, Anatolian rugs, woven in the agricultural areas of Anatolia, owe their origins to nomadic cultures & form a branch of ethnic Turkish rugs. Some of the oldest examples known are the 18 surviving pieces woven by the Seljuk Turks in the 13th century. The 16th century was the beginning of the second successful period of Anatolian rug-weaving. The rugs from this period are known as Classical Ottoman Rugs & were made for the palaces & the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire. These palace rugs' design & colors were determined by the palace artists & then sent to the weaving centers. in the beginning of the 19th & 20th centuries, these rugs gained worldwide recognition. The Antaloian rugs we have on offer were weaved by skillful artisans by hand & as a result to this day retain a sense of richness & individuality & look exquisite even after decades of use. Furthermore, these rugs have a dense & congruent knot distribution & it is a known fact in the rugs industry the denser the knot density, the greater the quality of the rugs. The age-related wear & natural inconsistencies you see in these period pieces are inherent & adds to their beauty & worth. All the pieces on display are one of a kind & have been cleaned & restored in our factory, by expert craftsmen with decades of experience, in a small town in Pakistan.
