Vintage Mcm (Midcentury Modern) clam shaped, three well serving dish with inlaid handle. The piece is tinplated & has a mild iridescent flash just like the abalone of a real shell would. The shells also have realistic striations to mimic the natural shell as well. The insertion site of the handle is decorated with graduating dots or hobnails. The handle has a particular midcentury bend that places it (stylistically) within that decor, making it at home with such objects. The inlaid handle has a line of black enamel-like paint in juxtaposition with the silver sheen of steel. No makers mark noted. Can be used as a side dish, nut & candy dish, catch all, to serve caviar or other seafood crudities, sauce dish, garnish, herbs, or just as a decor piece for the kitchen, bar or Mcm style home. Size: 9.3 wide (at widest point) x 6.75: tall (to tip of handle). Condition: Good vintage condition. Structurally sound. Nice, heavy quality. Tin plating has areas of patina. I polished piece with metal polishing cream to preserve current condition.
