Polar Bear Pair - like all of my stockings - measures 8 wide by 18 from opening to big toe for generous gift giving. What a wonderful way to celebrate a new baby's first Christmas! 65% wool & 35% acrylic combine to deliver the best stocking fabric. Wool brings a thick, sumptuous look & feel & resists pilling while the acrylic keeps the stocking from stretching under the weight of your presents (oh, I see you've been very good!). About the process: Each design is drawn in reverse on the base layer of felt. The felt layers are sewn one color at a time before being cut away by hand to reveal the image. I learned this very unique technique at a women's cooperative while living in Hungary. This reverse applique technique was originally used to decorate shepherd cloaks in the 1600's.
