This mug has a number on the base & it is smaller than the usual rounded Prairie Rainbow mugs. It is made from a smooth cream coloured clay. The dimensions are as follows: height 8 cm, diameter at the top 6.5 cm, diameter at the widest part 9 cm. This mug comfortably holds about 225 ml/ 8 fl oz liquid. A fabulous mug for all occasions. The dainty & fun flowers are the colours of the rainbow, sitting pretty on a slightly off - white background. The earthy feel of the unglazed base adds depth to your drinking experience, bringing you joy at every sip. Some are taken from other designs that I have created in the past (think foxgloves, buttercups & poppies), & others are new, from my garden & the observation of flower shapes (think grasses, roses & phlomis). Rainbows to celebrate the variety & resilience of the human spirit & a hope for the future. The mugs are made on the wheel & once the handles are fixed in place, I decorate them. I use coloured slips (liquid clay which I stain different colours), & sgraffito technique. The slips provide a colour through which marks are made usually with a fine needle, showing the colour of the clay behind. Following a biscuit firing, I apply a transparent food safe glaze & fire my kiln to 1250 oC, a stoneware temperature. Each mug has my makers mark added to it. It's my initials made into a butterfly. Dishwasher safe. All items are packaged in a special cardboard box, secured with paper ribbon & a business card. They are then placed in a further box with compostable chips for transit.
