Description
This is a large decorative angelfish wall hanging made from Devon driftwood, by artist Neil Hampson. I collect the driftwood from the beaches of Sidmouth, Devon where I live. I then wash it, & let it dry naturally. The driftwood is glued into place, & I build it up in layers to produce an intricate latticework effect. A black agate gemstone is used for the eye. I give the wood a few coats of spray varnish to protect, & bring out the natural colour of the wood. I have hand finished this with yacht varnish, to give a rich, glossy appearance. This is signed & dated on the back by the artist, using an engraver. The piece is strung on the back, so ready to hang. I have selected the most decorative pieces of driftwood for this, & it would make a stunning addition to any room. Each item I make is unique, & you will receive the piece that is pictured. This is a larger sized work of mine, measuring 38cm ( 15 in.) from nose to tail, & 56cm ( 22 in.) high. The depth is 6cm ( 2 1/4 in.)
