Description
This is a Kurdish Malatya or Sivas area rug from the 3rd quarter of the 19th century. It has a fantastic range of deeply saturated natural colors in Kashmir shawl-like stripes & an array of wonderful filler motifs spread across the rug. The borders are in three bands of linked florettes. The rug has a couple of small repairs in old wool & indiscernible to the untrained eye. It is a wonderful collection piece to hang & display or to use on the floor.
