Here it is, your new favourite ceramic mug! Why? First & foremost is that it just feels good. There's something about running your fingers around a well made hand thrown mug. The smoothness of the glossy glaze, the texture in the bare clay, the incredibly smooth sanded base (everyone loves the smooth bottoms & the weight & balance of the mug as you drink from it. Your morning cuppa is a huge part your day - why not drink it from a special coffee mug! But there are other, less obvious reasons too. I use locally foraged clay in my own clay mix that I've developed over time. This not only give the clay a richer, slightly flecked colour, but it also reduces my reliance on commercially mined clays, meaning this mug is more sustainably made & eco friendly. & while we're on sustainability, my kiln is fired using power from solar panels, all of my packaging is recyclable (some is being used a 2nd or 3rd time). I've been awarded Plastic Free Champion status by Surfers Against Sewage. Sustainability & minimal impact is baked into all of my work. I also develop & create all of my glazes from scratch - This glaze is called Misty Blue. It's is one of my favourite glazes! in the extreme heat of the kiln, this glaze flows as it melts, creating streaks, rivulets & flow lines. Where it flows away, leaving only a thin layer it becomes transparent. Where it's thick, it's a stunning baby blue with a mottling & occasional dark blue streaks in the colour that really draws you in. Where one layer flows over another it leaves a gorgeous tan tide line. Can you tell it's one of my favourites?!?!
