Description
Vintage Foxgloves Poster, Digitalis flore rubro, Besler, Basilius. Rudolf Kosow Hortus Eystettensis, wall art retro decor 1970s reproduction A 1970s reproduction of an original copper engraving. A fine copper engraving published in the famous large flower book 'Hortus Eystettensis' in Altdorf & Nrnberg around 1613. The 'Hortus Eystettensis' was the largest flowerbook ever published in that period. It contained 367 different engraved plates, each of them depicting often with several flowers or herbs. By Rudolf Kosow Dimensions: 22 in x 18.5 in (56 cm x 47 cm) Digitalis is a genus of about 20 species of herbaceous perennial plants, shrubs, & biennials, commonly called foxgloves. Digitalis is native to Europe, western Asia, & northwestern Africa. The flowers are tubular in shape, produced on a tall spike, & vary in colour with species, from purple to pink, white, & yellow. The scientific name means finger. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up & delivered in a cardboard tube for protection. See the FAQ section for more information on shipping, tracking & insurance.
