Original Vintage National Parks of England & Wales Poster Lake District Peak Snowdonia Dartmoor York Pembrokeshire wall art 1950s 1955 This is a 1955 National Parks poster of the National Parks of England & Wales prepared by the National Parks Commission by the Central Office of Information. The national parks of England & Wales are areas of relatively undeveloped & scenic landscape that are designated under the National Parks & Access to the Countryside Act 1949 . Despite their similar name, national parks in England & Wales are quite different from national parks in many other countries, which are usually owned & managed by the government as a protected community resource, & which do not usually include permanent human communities. in England & Wales, designation as a national park may include substantial settlements & human land uses which are often integral parts of the landscape, & land within a national park remains largely in private ownership. There are currently thirteen national parks in England & Wales. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. Note there are a couple of tears, but will press up well against glass. When framed these colourful & detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed.
