Original Vintage JAL Japan Airlines Cairo Pyramids of Giza Poster Egypt Gizeh travel tourism advertising print wall art retro 1960s 1968 A stunning & rare original 1960s JAL Japan Airlines Tourism Poster of the Pyramids of Giza, Cairo. It shows a beautiful girl feeling the ancient ground amidst the rubble of building material strewn around the Pyramids of Giza. Note the tear at the bottom right & the slight paper loss in the top right corner, but this is managable for a good framer to press the tear under the glass & use mats to cover the corner. The Giza Pyramid Complex, also called the Giza Necropolis, is in Greater Cairo, Egypt that includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, & the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes & the Great Sphinx of Giza. All were built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries & the remains of a workers' village. The site is at the edges of the Western Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, & about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of the city centre of Cairo. The Great Pyramid & the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, & they have historically been common as emblems of Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. They were popularised in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidon as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is by far the oldest of the Ancient Wonders & the only one still in existence. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed.
