1993 Sony Walkman Poster, colourful retro advertising for the first portable music cassette player, gifts for music lovers, wall art decor This is a colourful advertising promotion for the ground-breaking Sony Walkman. The shoe dressed up as a man - walk-man was a visual play on words. This poster has a ballet shoe loving tunes. John Hegarty of BBH, London was responsible for the design. Dimensions: 17.5 x 11.5 in (45 x 29 cm) Walkman is a brand of portable audio players manufactured by Sony. The original Walkman, released in 1979, was a portable cassette player that allowed people to listen to music of their choice on the move. Its popularity made walkman an unofficial term for personal stereos of any producer or brand. By 2010, when production stopped, Sony had built about 200 million cassette-based Walkmans. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. Note there are a couple of tears, but will press up well against glass. When framed these colourful & detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up & delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
