1985 Doctor Who Poster, Dalek, By Graham Potts, BBC, vintage science fiction gifts for boys & girls & teenagers, fantasy wall art decor This is a poster from 1985 of the Doctors nemesis, Dalek by Target Books for the BBC production of Doctor Who to support Dr Who books. Part of an original advertising portfolio Printed for Target Books Dimensions: 23.5 in x 16.5 in (60 cm x 42 cm) The Daleks are a fictional extraterrestrial race of mutants principally portrayed in the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. The Daleks were conceived by science-fiction writer Terry Nation & first appeared in the 1963 Doctor Who serial The Daleks, in shells designed by Raymond Cusick. The Daleks are the show's most popular & famous villains & their returns to the series over the decades have often gained media attention. Their frequent declaration Exterminate! has become common usage. Contrary to popular belief, the Daleks are not contractually required to appear in every season, as former showrunner Steven Moffat stated in an interview. Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme broadcast by BBC One since 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, an extraterrestrial being who appears to be human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. The TARDIS exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. With various companions, the Doctor combats foes, works to save civilisations & helps people in need. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
