1985 Crafts Council Gallery London Poster, National Collection of Contemporary Craft, ceramics rugs, gallery exhibition wall art decor This exhibition poster is from the Crafts Council Gallery for the 1985 exhibition featuring a National Collection of Contemporary Craft including ceramics, glass, jewellery, metal, textiles, furniture, toys, wood, lettering & books. in the picture are a box chair from Erik de Graaff 1979, a rug from Mary Farmer 1983 & a jug frmo Alison Britton from 1983. Dimensions: 30.3 in x 20.1 in (77 cm x 51 cm) Note the marking in the bottom left. in 1971 the Crafts Advisory Committee (CAC) was formed to advise the government 'on the needs of the artist craftsman & to promote a nation-wide interest & improvement in their products'. Over the last 50 years, the Crafts Council's role is in advising government, & supporting makers. What is special about exhibition & gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard-backed envelope for protection. They have been stored folded.
