It's one of a series of posters from Caltech & CIS (Carnegie Institution for Science) in the 1950s & 1960s. Printed by : California Institute of Technology & Carnegie Institution Washington Images taken from the Hale Observatories with a 200 inch Hale Telescope Printed in USA Dimensions: 22.5 in x 29 in (57 cm x 74 cm) The Helix Nebula (also known as NGC 7293 or Caldwell 63) is a planetary nebula (PN) located in the constellation Aquarius. Discovered by Karl Ludwig Harding, probably before 1824, this object is one of the closest of all the bright planetary nebulae to Earth[3] The distance, measured by the Gaia mission, is 65513 light-years. It is similar in appearance to the Cat's Eye Nebula & the Ring Nebula, whose size, age, & physical characteristics are similar to the Dumbbell Nebula, varying only in its relative proximity & the appearance from the equatorial viewing angle. The Helix Nebula has sometimes been referred to as the Eye of God in pop culture, as well as the Eye of Sauron. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be rolled up & delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
