1961 Norway Norsk Folkemuseum Poster, Ose Setesdal, Norway Travel Association & Norwegian State Railways, tourism vacation wall art decor This beautiful poster shows the 16C Storehouse from Ose of the Setesdal Farm setting in the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History at Bygdy, Oslo, Norway. It shows the distinctive earthen roof covered in grass, & children outside in traditional dress. The colours in the poster are just wonderful. Designed by Mittet. Litho-offset in colors printed by A/S John Grieg. Dimensions: 40.2 in x 24 in (102 cm x 62 cm) Note: there is some creasing see photos. Setesdal in Aust-Agder reaches from Hovden in the north, along the Otra river & the long Bygland fjord, to Evje in the south. It is a narrow valley lined with steep cliffs, but it does widen out in some places. The setesdal moors lie on both sides. Setesdal was once fairly isolated since almost impassable sections of the valley complicated contact with the coast. Roads were improved with time, bridges were built, & a steamship launched on the Bygland fjord. Setesdal has preserved countless old traditions & customs in dress, poetry & music. Medieval forms have lived on in its building traditions & folk art until the present. Farming, animal husbandry & forestry have been the most important sources of income. Norsk Folkemuseum (Norwegian Museum of Cultural History), at Bygdy, Oslo, Norway, is a museum of cultural history with extensive collections of artifacts from all social groups & all regions of the country. It also incorporates a large open-air museum with more than 150 buildings, relocated from towns & rural districts. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed.
