1950s Fete des Fleurs d'Ajoncs Poster, from Pont Avon, an Andre Even poster of Thodore Botrel, French singer & poet, wall art decor This is a 1950s poster of Theodore Botrel in the from the Fete des Fleurs d'Ajoncs or Gorse Flower Fair in Pont Avon in Britanny. By 1950, Even returned to Brittany for a few years. Influenced by Paul Czanne, Vincent Van Gogh & Charles-Franois Daubigny, Andr Even's body of work is filled with synthetic landscapes. Briton houses, cultivated & uncultivated fields are components of his canvases that are strictly guided by the golden number, which brings harmony to the entire work. His style can be situated between primitive & contemporary Italian painting. Jean-Baptiste-Thodore-Marie Botrel was a French singer-songwriter, poet & playwright. He is best known for his popular songs about his native Brittany, of which the most famous is La Paimpolaise. During World War I he became France's official Bard of the Armies. Botrel gave up his day job to become a professional singer-songwriter. When not performing in Paris, he lived in Brittany, initially taking a house in Port-Blanc, then moving permanently to Pont-Aven. He edited the journal of popular verse La Bonne Chanson & in 1905 founded the Fte des Fleurs d'Ajonc (Gorse Flower festival) in Pont-Aven, the first of the music festivals that have since become common in Brittany. What is special about exhibition & gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters & their history, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up & with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases & tears press up well against glass, & any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
