It really is an outstanding piece of patriotic propoganda artwork from World War 2 from Dean Cornwall. What could be more patriotic than a bald eagle poised in flight on a background of the good old red, white & blue? It is in terrible battered condition, with paperloss in the top left corner, & numerous tears, but most are solved by the use of glass & mats. It is a World War II Propaganda (U.S. Government Printing Office, 1945). Folded, Poor condition. Victory Loan Poster Victory Now You Can Invest in It! Dean Cornwell Artwork. With resources & monetary funds significantly depleted after the close of the war, the U.S. once again turned to the American populace to help bear the financial burden of rebuilding the nation, this time with Victory Bonds. Dean Cornwell, an oil painter & muralist known for his works in magazines like Cosmopolitan & various governmental buildings, provides the inspiring illustration for this poster. By the 30's & 40's, the artist Dean Cornwell was a household name. His patriotic war posters & full-page color advertisements were everywhere: Seagrams Whiskey, General Motors, & Coca Cola - to name a few. It has a certificate of provenence from Artwise in New York. (available on request) Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
