Description
This cute little bud vase was thrown on the potter's wheel from a porcelain clay & glazed in a smooth matte white. It was then wood fired in an outdoor anagama style kiln. The fire in the kiln was stoked 24 hours a day for 5 days to a temperature over 2300F. As the wood burns, flames move through the kiln & the ash deposits on the pieces in the kiln & interacts with the clay & glaze to create a unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Before loading the kiln, each piece is placed on top of wadding which are small balls of refractory material that won't melt in the kiln, to keep each piece from sticking to the shelf. You can see on the bottom of each piece where the wadding was placed & darker red/orange areas that were kissed by the flame. I sand down the bottom of these pieces with diamond grit to make them silky smooth & to keep them from scratching your table top, & you may notice evidence of this sanding on the bottom (see photo) APPROxIMATE DIMENSIONS: -2.75 Tall -2.5 Diameter -1 opening MATERIALS: Clay is porcelain -All glazes & clay used are lead free & food safe.
