Description
Beautiful art reproduction of Lookdowns is printed using archival paper & inks on heavy cotton paper & will be shipped in a tube. Prints will fit standard size frames. Gyo-translates as Fish. Taku-translates as impression or rubbing. Gyotaku began in Japan during the 1800's as the method used by fishermen to record the size & species of their prized fish. The fish caught was cleaned on the outside & positioned as it would appear in life. Oil based inks where mixed & applied to the fish, rice paper would be layed on top of the fish & rubbed with your fingers to transfer the impression on to the paper. The only thing that was painted with a brush was the eye & any distinguished markings. Due to the aesthetic quality of the work, Gyotaku developed into an art form. Gyotaku fish rubbings makes for wonderful gifts for the saltwater enthusiasts. My fish rubbings will display in your office, business or home & add a special decor to any room or beach house. Gyotaku fish rubbings makes for a great Father's Day, Christmas or any holiday or birthday gift for your loved one. The print is signed with a red seal which is my name in Japanese.
