Just out of the salt fired kiln are these beautiful altered wheel thrown stoneware mugs with Idaho emblem. This unique & seldom done technique of firing involves introducing Soda salt into the kiln at 2300F. This results in a beautiful glazed surface caused by fire. Then we slowly cooled the kiln creating vivid color enhancement. Versatile mug for home or travel. Interior is coated with traditional light colored glaze. The outer surface is soda glazed with blue slip resulting in glossy surface. Note. This pottery is individually handmade Consequently, there is naturally variation between individual pots. This is the appeal & charm of handmade objects. However, this is one of many vagaries of handmade ceramics to some customers who seek identical matching items.
