A panel from an antique Miao wedding blanket is framed by hand spun, natural indigo dyed , strip woven cloth from the Mossi people of Burkina Faso. The reverse is identically made. The Miao are an ethnic minority group from the mountainous regions of Southern China. Traditionally handwoven by the bride to be in cotton & silk, the panel of this particular wedding blanket has a variety of very elaborate & complex geometric motifs.
